AssetWise ALIM ProjectWise Connector Plugin
The AssetWise ALIM ProjectWise Connector was originally developed in AssetWise ALIM, as a simple link between the ProjectWise environment for creating and updating drawings and models, and the delivery environment in AssetWise ALIM, but now also supports various business workflows between ProjectWise and AssetWise ALIM.
The functionality can be categorized into three levels, with each level requiring specific configurations corresponding to organizational needs.

ProjectWise Level 2 Connector
The following is true for ProjectWise Level 2 Connector scenarios:
- Best practice to register any new document placeholders in AssetWise ALIM, and then synchronize to ProjectWise
- AssetWise ALIM projects are registered with ProjectWise
- AssetWise ALIM documents are related to the previously registered project using a configured relationship can then be registered with ProjectWise
- ProjectWise holds all native files which are referenced by AssetWise ALIM
- Placeholder documents (documents without files) can be registered with ProjectWise
- Documents can originate from AssetWise ALIM
- Although documents may originate from ProjectWise, it is recommended that the original placeholder document is created in AssetWise ALIM and is the master document register, and ProjectWise would provide revisions.
- Documents that originate from ProjectWise are created in AssetWise with a relationship to the originating project
- ProjectWise attributes are used to capture AssetWise ALIM document number and revision
- Documents created in AssetWise ALIM can be change controlled so that when they are approved, they can be affected by a change request, and then moved to the ProjectWise Level 3 connector workflow
- Renditions created in ProjectWise can have the same ProjectWise attributes used by the source CAD file to capture the AssetWise ALIM document number and revision. This allows the ProjectWise Connector to synchronize the rendition over to the rendition copy of the AssetWise ALIM document that was previously created for the source file
- The Level 2 Connector is suitable for Greenfield Projects, and Operations without formal configuration management.
ProjectWise Level 3 Connector
The following is true for ProjectWise Level 3 connector scenarios:
- AssetWise ALIM change requests are registered with ProjectWise
- Any new document placeholders and revisions must be created in AssetWise ALIM as prototypes and registered in ProjectWise
- Any changing documents represented by prototypes are created within a project folder in ProjectWise
- ProjectWise holds all native files which are referenced by ALIM
- Changes are synchronized back to AssetWise ALIM at regular intervals
- Renditions are synchronized to AssetWise ALIM where the base filename matches a corresponding native file that has previously been registered
- Renditions can be placed on a separate document copy in AssetWise ALIM
- AssetWise ALIM is the master document register
- Fully-controlled change management exists
- Suitable for brownfield changes with configuration management in place.
